Named the ‘Casa Ricart’, this house has been built in the Historic Centre of Benimaclet by local architecture practice Gradolí & Sanz arquitectos. Benimaclet is an island that was once a farming village, but with the growth of the city of Valencia, the island was absorbed in order to transform it to a residential neighbourhood. The house was built in the Historic City center and one of the most important tasks to the architects was to maintain the structure and features of the traditional courtyard houses that are typical to this region. ‘Casa Ricart’ is formed around two courtyards. The first one is located between the living room and kitchen. The courtyard is filled with a lot of sunlight and there’s also an olive tree in the center of it. The second courtyard with the shade of vegetation provides much more privacy.
