A Small Red Victorian House In Portland

A small Victorian house in Portland, Oregon was redesigned by Waechter Architecture. The house has two floors and a square footage of total 2.200 square ft or 204 sq m. It maintained its original shape, but after renovation it got a simple overall look. According to the architects, they wanted to create a “modern sculpture”. The red-painted house stands out from the other house in the neighbourhood, which gives it a strong character and identity. Architects removed some of the windows and their shape was changed from double-hung rectangular windows to single square ones.  Inside, each floor has a one large room with smaller spaces around it. The kitchen, dining and living zones are located at the ground floor. The walls of this zone are lined with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and kitchen cabinets. A bedroom and a lounge space can be found in the second floor.
