1930s Renovated Apartment In Vienna
Munich-based architecture studio IFUB has renovated a 1930s Art Deco apartment in Vienna. The flat is named ‘Apartment S’ and located within an Art Deco style mansion. The main requirement for the architects was to renovate the apartment but to preserve the character where possible. Good thing, the flat was in a good but time-worn condition when architects got the commission for the renovation. Existing parquet flooring was uncovered, cleaned, and waxed. One of the main elements that were added in almost all spaces, was the black steel frame. It’s in the kitchen as a shelving system and as a storage basket above the wood-topped kitchen island. The black frame can be also found in the bathroom. The walls of the living room were painted white and the ceilings grey. To illuminate the room, the strip lighting was installed.
