Unplug those chargers
We all like the convenience of plugging in our phones and not having to search around for a charger. However, leaving your charger in the power outlet when not in use, still uses a small amount of energy which is costing you money. Be wary of hot water
You need more energy to make water hot, so be wary of letting that hot water tap run freely. Instead, wash the dishes in warm water, or stick to cold instead. It’s also a good idea to opt for cooler washes on your machine, as it will use less energy and still get those clothes clean! If you’re worried about germs, then consider adding an anti-bacterial detergent to your cycle.
Start a compost pile
You don’t need acres of land or a smallholding to start a compost heap. You can even start one in a container. Compost heaps are a great way to reduce the amount of natural kitchen waste you might have. Eggshells, tea bags, fruit and veggie peelings, etc. And when you have compost, you could even grow your own vegetables.
Lower that thermostat
No one likes to feel the cold, but just by lowering your thermostat by a couple of degrees, you could also be lowering your bills and your energy consumption! If you feel a little chill, put on a sweater before you turn up the heat.
