This 1910 townhouse in Hague was renovated by a Dutch architect Antonia Reif. The former space consisted of two separate apartments. The client’s main requirement was to have a more open-plan space connecting the dining, working and living areas, so the architect connected the four floors into a single unit. He also opened up an atrium in the centre and installed a new staircase. In order to create a sense of continuity, oak parquet was laid in a herringbone pattern. Silestone was used to create the kitchen island with integrated sink and cooker. It is located in the centre of the atrium. A staircase extends from the kitchen to a lounge and study space together with a bathroom on the first floor and bedrooms on the upper levels.
