Houses built from shipping containers became popular about 6 years ago. Since then, there has been a lot of projects that involved shipping containers as the main material. There has also been a lot of discussions about whether shipping containers make good housing or not. Despite the different opinions shipping containers are still being used for various projects all over the world. In this article, we will look over the most popular shipping container houses that have been build during the past five years.
1. Holiday container house

Yamamar architects turned a 40′ highboy shipping container into a cozy hunting cabin which is located in Manton, CA, United States. The cabin is completely off the grid and can be locked up tight when not in use.
3. Port-a-Bach container home
Atelierworkshop Architects have designed and built a container home called the Port-a-Bach. The portable home has a fully enclosed exterior steel shell (when folded up) that provides maximum security if the house is left unsettled for a longer period.

‘Fly House’ is is a bed and breakfast within shipping containers designed and built by Spanish studio Espai Fly. It consists of three shipping containers that were prefabricated off-site. You can actually rent it for 140$ per night!
