Munich-based architecture studio IFUB has renovated a 1930s Art Deco apartment in Vienna. The flat is named ‘Apartment S’ and located within an Art Deco style mansion. The main requirment for the architects was to renovate the apartment but to preserve the character where possible. Good thing, the flat was in a good but time-worn condition when architects got the commission for the renovation. Existing parquet flooring was uncoverd, cleaned and waxed. One of the main elements that were added in almost all spaces, was the black steel-frame. It’s in the kitchen as a shalving system and as a storage basket above the wood-topped kitchen island. The black frame can be also found in bathroom. The walls of the living room were painted white and the ceilings grey. In order to illuminate the room, the strip lightning was installed.
