Christopher Marley Artworks

What a wonderful Autumnal Tuesday is shining through the windows today. Hope each one of our followers and readers had a wonderful Halloweekend this year! If you didn’t, well, there’s always another year to make it right. Right now most of the leaves have already fallen from trees and the gloomy and dark fall is everywhere around us, but it’s always a great time to be reminded of the exquisite colourful creatures of the earth. I’ll confess, I have been a bit inspired by Halloween butterfly costumes, and other colourful creatures that I have seen while celebrating this fun holiday, therefore I want you to join in this recent discovery of mine. And this time it’s not interior design beauties, but it’s definitely worth your while.

Today you’ll see the beautiful, colour-filled and meticulously arranged artworks make out of all kinds of creatures – bugs, shells, butterflies and else. These artworks definitely wake up a biologist and a child butterfly catcher in me. The Artist Christopher Marley describes his artworks as: “My more kaleidoscopic musings on color, pattern and texture comprise the pieces in Prisms. It is here where arthropods as a medium begin to push the boundaries of traditional display while maintaining the respect due once living organisms . It is here where the subject matter begins to retreat in dominance while line, shape and hue emerge as the defining elements – even if only initially. With Prisms, I indulge in more repetition and a larger palette for what I intend to be a precise, elegant array of some of Nature’s most enthralling creatures. The insect and butterfly mosaics are one of my trademark creations and among the most enjoyable to execute. Each piece is an original, created with careful attention to the flow of negative space, complimentary coloration, and the meticulous preparation and selection of each specimen. The appendages of the beetles are tucked under the body so as not to detract in form or reaction from the striking display of nature’s brilliance. Colors are natural and as many are structural instead of pigmented, as durable as any color in the animal kingdom.”  Take a look yourself at these unique artworks and enjoy the Pheromone designs that this talented artist have created!
